For a long time I just ignored the fact that I felt like crap throughout my afternoon, and anytime I was home I felt weary, sluggish, and kind of sick, but my flu-like symptoms never seemed to disappear, however i then heard that a heater can release carbon monoxide if you are not careful.
I purchased a detector and sure enough, my device was leaking it badly.
I called my Terrell, TX heater repair business to take a look at the issue, turns out that the heat exchanger is the culprit for leaking monoxide, however when the heat exchanger is cracked, you are done for. The cost of a new exchanger is on par with a brand new heater… So it wasn’t a great idea to Springtime for such a hefty repair. I ended up having to replace my entire gas heater since it was such a safety hazard! Now that I have a newer model, I am way better about heater service. I have the heater officially cleaned, oiled, and tightened by my Terrell heating corporation professionals. I have them check and inspect all moving parts. I make sure to avoid repairs whenever possible, however, sporadically repairs do come up. I have learned that the first sign of trouble, it is imperative to call. If you odor, feel, or hear something wrong, reach for the phone. I am not going to make the same mistake twice. I also have a carbon monoxide detector installed in my home just to be safe. The last thing I want to do is be slowly poisoned again.
